Teaching Zentangle with love & laughter
My name is Tina Cox (CZT 36). I love teaching and practicing the Zentangle® Method of drawing!
I completed my Certified Zentangle Seminar online in 2020, but have actually been in the arts and crafts industry for over 30 years.
I spent most of my career pursuing parchment craft, and my parchment work was featured in many exhibitions and publications.
Designing patterns that inspired other parchment crafters to reimagine beautiful pieces of their own… that was my mission, and it’s how I discovered my passion for teaching!
So what led me to finally take the plunge into the wonderful world of Zentangle?

My Zentangle Journey
During my time in parchment craft, I saw some beautiful tangled tiles posted online. For years they attracted me, and the Zentangle Method was on my list to try ‘one day’. But then, in 2020, the COVID-19 lockdown began. The uncertainty of each day, combined with a very poorly mum, led my stress levels to hit the roof. I needed an outlet.
Luckily I soon found a tile I fell in love with, and noticed that its creator offered a workshop for the design. I took the first step of my Zentangle journey and signed up.
While listening and tangling along, I realised that all my worries and fears had faded away; I could simply enjoy the time spent drawing, without thinking about the end result.
I instantly became enchanted by the Zentangle Method of drawing, and creating these little pieces of artwork became my daily practice to combat much of the chaos in my life.

“Whether it lasts a few minutes or hours each day, tangling is a gift I give to myself: permission to shut the world out for a while, slow down, and enjoy a meditative process. Tangling is my happy place… therapy for my soul.”

I soon learned that the Certified Zentangle Teachers seminar—Zentangle Inc’s first ever seminar!—would be online later that year. And just like that, I had a goal!
Over days, weeks and months, I practiced the method I wanted to teach to others who might experience life-changing benefits in their daily lives. If Zentangle could help me cope with anxiety, panic attacks and sleepless nights, then I knew had to pass that on.
Enrolling for the seminar and becoming a CZT was one of the best decisions I ever made!
Of course life happens, so I didn’t start teaching right away. I felt held back by other responsibilities, and battled deeply rooted fears of ‘failing’ or ‘making mistakes’. After all, my previous craft was defined by striving for ‘perfect’ results—breaking that habit has taken me five years!
Now, my focus with Zentangle is wholly directed towards mental wellbeing, and I feel incredibly grateful to those in this community and beyond who helped bring me here. Thank you to all the teachers from whom I’ve learned so much; the amazing personalities I’ve met around the world; and the family and friends who never hesitated to support my dreams. 💕
Come Tangle With Me!
Half the value of Zentangle is being part of a strong community, so my live online Zentangle workshops aren’t just about drawing—they’re about sharing, growing, and inspiring each other in a relaxed and inclusive space. No matter who you are or where you come from, you’ll always be welcome to come tangle with me!
